Creating Hypervideos and Interactivity

As a part of Digital Cultures 2019, a series of workshop will be held on the 28th of September 2019.
The workshop will be held by documentary films' director and producer Svenja Klüh (Berlin).

This form allows applying to the following workshop:

Creating Hypervideos and Interactivity

The need to gather information, accumulate knowledge, and learn lies in human nature. Although we usually limit our research to the information we need, we easily get lost in the Internet.
What if we could build upon that excitement of travelling through resources – from hyperlink to hyperlink - and expand this experience to film? What if we could lead our audience into a net of interactive video stories, giving them an opportunity to explore the initial idea visually more deeply?

Non-linear narratives can be used across a wide array of creative industries – from art, and journalism to institutions, and archives. The possibilities vary from a dynamic informative website providing the users with information to an interactive cinematographic masterpiece – and anything in between.
In the workshop you will playfully create such interactive journeys around a central theme. The goal is to explore storytelling, dramatic choices, and user interaction. You will practice in groups, and work across sectors and fields of expertise. The workshop will introduce you to the Open Source software FrameTrail, which will allow you to link video materials with additional information such as locations, websites, images, and other videos.

The workshop is led by Svenja Klüh, the producer of the interactive documentary film 'Field Trip' (www.fieldtrip.berlin). The film crew use FrameTrail to explore Tempelhof, a former airfield in the heart of Berlin, and a place of great political and historical significance. Svenja is a director of internationally awarded documentaries, and a film producer. She teaches workshops on creativity in Berlin.

The workshop can prove to be particularly useful to journalists, curators, and filmmakers as well as to people who work with online marketing, archives, exhibitions, and online storytelling.

Participants are kindly asked to bring their own laptops.
