IIIF: Coping with Digitization Abundance

Cultural heritage institutions have been digitizing their collections for decades, which has led to an abundance of high-resolution files on servers around the world. How do major institutions deliver these assets in a way that is compliant with basic web standards, but still provides the flexibility to innovate and deliver an exceptional user experience? IIIF (pronounced "triple eye eff"), the International Image Interoperability Framework, provides a set of open standards that that also pave the way for image annotations, storytelling, cross-institutional discovery, and much more.
